Canterbury Tin Can 5K to benefit food network


The Oct. 8 Family Fun Run/Walk Tin Can 5K at Canterbury School will benefit the hungry.

Advance registration is $20 and a canned food donation. Visit Shirts will be given to the first 120 to register in advance. Entry fee the morning of the event is $25 plus a canned food donation.

The annual event offers fun and prizes, promotes fitness and benefits The Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County Food Network.

The course begins at the Canterbury High School soccer fields, 3210 Smith Road, Fort Wayne.

A Pee Wee Race for ages 3-9 will register beginning at 8 a.m. the day of the race and begin at 8:30 a.m. The entry fee is a canned food donation. The course covers the length of the high school soccer field and back.

Final registration for the 5K will be from 8-8:30 a.m. The 5K run will begin at the school at 9 a.m and continue through the campus to use part of the Aboite trails system.

Food barrels will be located at the race site for canned food donations.

Free childcare will be provided for Pee Wee racers during the 5K.

Awards will be presented at 10 a.m. Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners and to the first three male and female winners in each age group: 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; and 80 and over.
