‘Remembrance tree’ adds organ donor ornaments

Memorial ornaments will again adorn remembrance trees this holiday season at Lutheran Hospital, 7950 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne. The kickoff to the eighth remembrance tree observance at Lutheran will take place in the hospital’s south lobby from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. A dedication will take place at 12:45 p.m. The names of loved ones will be read at that time. Area musicians will share songs of the season throughout the morning.

Volunteers paint each ornament with a family member or friend’s name. Guests are then invited to place their ornament on one of the trees. They may also opt to write a note to or about the loved one that can be inserted inside. The ornaments are provided free.

Special ornaments are available in memory of fallen heroes from the armed forces, fire department or law enforcement. New this year are ornaments for organ donors. All will be on display until shortly after the new year, at which time they can be taken home as a memento. Each ornament will be available for pickup at Volunteer Services on weekdays, Jan. 3-13.

Guests may park for free in the south parking garage across from the Cancer Center.

The public may call (260) 435-7704 for more information.
