This February, WELT-LP 95.7 FM will celebrate it’s one year anniversary.
The low-power community radio station broadcast’s from the downtown main branch of the Allen County Public Library with a range of about 15 miles, which covers most of Allen County. Alternatively, the station also streams on the internet.
The station’s mission is “to challenge the cultural and intellectual assumptions of the listeners through unique and diverse programming,” said Erik Möllberg, WELT Station Manager.
“There’s one staff, that’s me,” Möllberg said. “And around 55-60 local DJs that are doing programming.
“We’re running 67 percent music and 33 percent talk, which I think is a pretty good balance. We’ve gotten a lot of really good feedback from people. It’s been fantastic, it’s exceeded expectations.”
