30 Years of FAME

This is the FAME Festival’s 30th year of giving area elementary and middle school students an opportunity to create, exhibit and perform works of art.

The festival was started in 1987 by Dorothy Kittaka, music specialist, and Mike Schmid, art specialist at Haverhill Elementary School.

FAME Executive Director T. Irmscher says that the festival has grown every year. Now, about 100 schools participate with more than 6,000 pieces of student artwork displayed and more than 2,000 children performing.
