ARCH*TEK, a joint effort of ARCH, and TekVenture presented a Preservation Expo on April 1. The expo was held at TekVenture’s new location, 1550 Griffin Street.
Featured presenter was David Hayles, a world class expert on scagliola. Hayles was brought to Fort Wayne to do the scagliola replacement and repair work on the Allen County Courthouse during the historic building’s 1990’s restoration. Scagliola is a composite substance made from selenite, glue and natural pigments, imitating marble and other hard stone.
Other demonstrations of historic preservation and restoration techniques included masonry repair; window, door and molding restoration.
TekVenture is planning to hold a formal grand opening of their new location this summer.
