The 2nd Annual 3Rivers Federal Credit Union Pedal, Paddle, and Play was June 10.
The purpose of the event is to introduce people to the 560 miles of navigable water with 87 access points within the 10-county region of northeast Indiana, said Kyle Quandt, project manager for Northeast Indiana Water Trails.
Participants carried a “passport,” which they had stamped at six different locations as they paddled or pedaled along the trails. One location was Fort Wayne’s water filtration plant where tours were given and the new canal boat “Sweet Breeze” was anchored at the confluence of the three rivers, said Quandt. The furthest check point was Stevie’s Island, 3 miles from the starting point of Fort Wayne Outfitters. Participants with stamped passports were eligible to win prizes, including a complete kayak package.
