Ivy Tech offers tours on National Manufacturing Day

Ivy Tech Community College has invited students and all community members to tour the Fort Wayne Campus and Warsaw Site to celebrate national Manufacturing Day.

Tours will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne’s North Campus, at the Steel Dynamics Inc. Keith E. Busse Technology Center at 3710 Dean Drive. Students in K-12 are welcome, as are business representatives and other community members and members of the college community. The tour will offer information from local manufacturers and about academic opportunities.

The Warsaw Area Career Center at 1 Tiger Lane, Warsaw, will offer tours from 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and from 4:30-7:15 p.m. Thursday. The Ivy Tech Orthopedic & Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, 955 Executive Blvd., and Precision Medical Technologies, 2059 Pound Drive W., also will be open for tour.

National Manufacturing Day is intended to address misconceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers a chance to showcase what they do. The day also gives these employers a chance to address the skilled labor shortage they face.
