Homestead guard offers free show Friday



The Homestead High School winter guard will perform a free show for the local audience at 8 p.m. Friday in the main gym of the school, at 4310 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne. Geoff Goelz directs the Homestead winter guard. The show is entitled “A Study of Envy.”

Homestead will compete in the state finals Saturday. The Indiana High School Color Guard Association finals for Regional A, Class A, Open Class and World Class will be at Center Grove High School, 2717 S. Morgantown Road, Greenwood. General admission is $10, students in K-12 pay $8, children younger than 5 pay $3, and an infant in lap is admitted free.

Homestead will perform in Open Class at 5:13 p.m.

Also from northeast Indiana, Carroll Varsity will perform in Class A at 2:41 p.m. and Carroll Junior Varsity will perform in Regional A at 12:49 p.m. The 2018 show is “By a Change in the Wind.” Danielle Burgett and Jordan Stevens direct the Carroll winter guard.

In all, 41 winter guard units will compete. Also, the Legacy Performing Arts winter guard of Indianapolis will perform in exhibition at 5:58 p.m and The Pride of Cincinnati winter guard will perform in exhibition at 7:10 p.m. The awards ceremony for all classes will begin at 7:35 p.m.

Both Homestead and Carroll were champions in their classes in 2017.
