To alleviate food insecurity for veterans and their families, Humana, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Oak Street Health have partnered to host the Feeding America Drive in conjunction with National Military Appreciation Month.
The drive aims to provide food for struggling veterans as well as raise awareness of the high rate of food insecurity within the veteran community.
“More than one in four veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan struggle to put food on the table. These vets are a large demographic in the 14 percent of Hoosiers suffering from food insecurity today,” a release from the event stated.
Through May 19, people can drop off food at Oak Street Health, 436 E. Washington Blvd., in Fort Wayne.
