FORT WAYNE — A free breakfast lecture series geared toward connecting creative people will launch Jan. 11.
CreativeMornings FTW is a new monthly meetup that will take place on the second Friday of each month. Anyone who calls themselves “creative” in Fort Wayne is invited to attend, according to a news release from CreativeMornings FTW.
The free event will feature breakfast, a short talk by a local creative and Q&A session.
CreativeMornings is sponsored by Artlink, 300 E. Main St., Fort Wayne, which will serve as a home base for the event. Each month, a different location for the breakfast will be announced, rotating from Artlink to other spots in the downtown Fort Wayne area.
The first event will take place 8:30-10 a.m. Jan. 11 at The B-Side at One Lucky Guitar. The speaker will be designer and musician Nate Utesch who will talk about the theme “surreal.”
“From design legends to hometown heroes, CreativeMornings speakers are selected based on a global monthly theme,” according to the news release.
Creative Mornings is part of a national breakfast lecture series that started in New York City in 2008. Since then, it has grown to more than 170 cities all over the world.
Fort Wayne’s chapter was started by resident Olivia Lehman who formerly worked on the CreativeMornings team in Indianapolis before moving back to her hometown. Lehman says her goal with CreativeMornings FTW is not only to celebrate Fort Wayne’s creative talent, but also to provide a common space for creatives to connect.
“We believe in giving a damn,” Lehman said in a prepared statement. “We believe in community, sharing stories, inspiring others and being inspired. Everyone is welcome. Everyone is creative. So join us, and let’s be the change we wish to see.”
