Roanoke fundraiser features entertainers

ROANOKE — A night of comedy and music is planned to benefit the Roanoke Food Pantry. The fundraiser will take place 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Cottage Event Center, 9524 U.S. 24 North, Roanoke.

The event will feature performances by magician and WBCL radio personality Jim Barron and singer Julie Hadaway.

Barron’s feats have included escaping from a strait jacket at halftime of a Fort Wayne Freedom football game and correctly predicting the exact score of a Fort Wayne Wizards baseball game before the first pitch, according to a news release from the Cottage Event Center.

Hadaway has performed across the Midwest and in Tennessee. She has worked as an instructor at Ivy Tech Community College, Trine University and Wayne High School. Her repertoire includes a variety of standards, light pop and country.

A lasagna dinner, provided by On the Avenue Catering, will be served prior to the show.

Tickets for the event are $12 and are available by calling (260) 483-3508, online at and at John’s Meat Market in Roanoke. Proceeds benefit the Roanoke Food Pantry.
