Salsa instructor offers Valentine’s special

Fort Wayne Salsa & Bachata will offer a Valentine Salsa Evening, from 7 p.m.-midnight Saturday, Feb. 10, at Fort Wayne Dance Collective, 437 E. Berry St., Fort Wayne. The cost is $20.

The evening includes dance and sweets, with a salsa and bachata lesson by Taiwo Adeleye.

Adeleye trained through the Fort Wayne Dance Collective with former artistic director John Byrne. He trained in Martha Graham technique at Mikautadze Dance Theater at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, and now trains at Fort Wayne Ballet and in Salsa02 at LaFuerza Chicago. “Sometimes Salsa02 is called mambo,” he explained. He teaches salsa, Afro-fusion dance and Afro-modern dance. He also trained in Latin and ballroom salsa in his native Nigeria.

He described bachata as a slower version of salsa.

Adeleye teaches private lessons at the Fort Wayne Ballet and group lessons with Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation. Anyone attending Saturday night can ask about details of the next group class.
