Crosswinds fundraiser challenges core

By Laura G. Burger

The fourth annual Crosswinds Planking Challenge is planned for June 6 at Parkview Field at 5:30 p.m.

Crosswinds, a faith-based Christian organization, helps families, individuals and troubled youth who are in crisis.

Minimums to participate are $50 through May 1, $75 through June 1 and $100 the week of the event. Donation/registration includes a t-shirt, a goody bag from Jefferson Pointe and more.

Money raised from this fundraiser benefits the Crosswinds Cares Scholarship Fund, a fund available for individuals and families in need of mental health support and counseling.

Additionally, funds contributed provide limited financial assistance to eligible employees who are experiencing economic hardship due to emergency situations through the Lifeline Loves Crosswinds Cares Fund.

Planking is an exercise that strengthens core muscles, improves balance and increases endurance. Prizes will be awarded for most creative costume, most money raised, most donors and longest plank. A prize will also be awarded for the largest team on competition day.
