PRESS RELEASE —┬áThe Freedom Festival has been a long-standing tradition for both residents of Leo-Cedarville and the surrounding communities for 18 years. Activities begin Friday night with a classic car Cruise-In, followed by the Saturday morning Freedom 5K run and end Saturday evening with food trucks, family activities and fireworks at the Riverside Gardens.

The Leo-Cedarville Foundation is working to expand the Freedom Festival activities to include more family-friendly events throughout the day Saturday.

One of this year’s new activities is Flow the St. Joe. Flow is organized by the St. Joseph River Watershed Initiative, but is new to the line-up for the Freedom Festival. Flow the St. Joe offers an easy paddle along the St. Joseph River from the covered bridge in Spencerville, IN back to Leo-Cedarville where you can enjoy Freedom Festival activities.

Bring your own boat or rent a canoe or kayak from Earth Adventures Unlimited on West Main Street in Fort Wayne or from Fort Wayne Urban Outfitters. For more information or to register go to sjrwi.org.

Another new event to the Freedom Festival is an Artisan Market. The market will host over 20 local vendors offering a variety of hand-crafted items along with home-grown and locally raised products.

Hand-made items include jewelry, clothing, art, photography, metal and wood working, apothecary, and gifts. Enjoy Rowe Coffee, home-made gluten free dry and baked goods from Oh Forks! and locally raised meat and other naturally based products from The Wellness Barn. Local eateries, Leo Cafe and Marcos Pizza will also be offering some outdoor specials for the day. The market will take place on Main Street just east of State Rd 1 on Saturday June 30th from 10-3. Limited parking will be available, so shoppers are encouraged to park at the Riverside Gardens and make the short walk over the bridge to the downtown area. For more information and a list of vendors check out the Facebook event page at Freedom Festival Artisan Market.

These new events are part of the Leo-Cedarville Foundation’s efforts to bring more awareness to the Leo area as a great place to live, eat, shop and play. The Freedom Festival takes place this year on Friday and Saturday, June 29th & 30th.
