FORT WAYNE — Homestead’s football squad will face some new opponents in the tournament this fall, as the Indiana High School Athletic Association recently announced its sectional realignments for the 2019 season.
The Class 6A Spartans remain in Sectional 3 with Carroll; however, Snider and Northrop have dropped down to Class 5A, leaving Noblesville and Warsaw to fill the holes.
Snider, which finished the 2018 season ranked 11th in both the AP and Coaches’ polls, won the sectional last season. Homestead was ranked 15th in the AP Poll.
Newcomer Warsaw was ranked 12th in the Coaches’ and AP polls — though Homestead will not have to worry about the successful Snider program this year, the Tigers will bring a new set of challenges.
Warsaw finished 2018 with a 7-3 record, falling to Penn in the sectional opener. Homestead lost to Snider in the sectional title game, finishing the season 7-4.
Carroll struggled in 2018, ending with a 3-7 record, and Noblesville finished last season 4-6, losing in the sectional opener to Lafayette Jeff.
